New Technologies and designs in Kitchens and Baths

As part of my monthly series on crazy, cool new products, I bring you three new ideas from the world of kitchens and bathrooms!

The first: Some seriously awesome looking bathroom fixtures from Stone Forest. I have always loved this company and enjoy clicking through their website. I think their design work is fantastic and definitely a WOW piece. It has a WOW price tag attached, but you certainly get a quality piece of hardware. Their latest creation is the Industrial Collection and it’s their best work yet. You could put this in almost any style home and it would be a very fun bathroom. It’s going onto my wish list for if we ever re-do our master bath.

The second: Very playful tile from Ascot Ceramiche. So often people get caught up in Travertine or Marble tiles and forget that you can have a lot of fun with playful, colorful manmade tile. While it might not be my first choice for a kitchen backsplash, I think it would be fun in a bar or kid’s bathroom.

The third: A practical innovation in Dupont’s Corian countertops that is going to make you take a second look at putting Corian in your kitchen. Thought you wanted granite? Think again. This countertop includes a transmitter below the surface that transfers energy to a receiver within or attached to any smart devise such as a mobile phone or tablet. You will never have to plug your phone in again! If your phone is older, you can purchase a small charging ring from Duracell Powermat to help it receive the countertop’s signal. I have to say that this is pretty awesome. It appears that wires, even those for charging your devises, are slowly disappearing in today’s wireless world.
