Creative outdoor areas

When your view looks like this, you want to make sure you have plenty of opportunities to enjoy it.

So when it comes to designing an outdoor space, we like to get creative. Instead of just putting a pool in the backyard, our team always finds ways to incorporate pools, outdoor fireplaces, green spaces and outdoor kitchens into the overall architecture of the home. Not only does this result in a better overall look, but it also tends to give clients a better use of space.

In the picture here, you can see how the pool flows right up next to the house – it’s a beautiful look, but it also allowed us to push the house as close to the rear setback as possible. The picture below shows the same pool in the daylight. Notice how the tile reflects the color of the ocean. The infinity edge along the far side adds just the right finishing touch.

Here, too, you can see that the owners had an amazing view to start with… they wanted a home and amazing backyard that took advantage of it.

To bring in the same elements as the modern house, our team designed a modern-looking pool with square lines and an infinity edge facing the water. From the house, it will look as though the pool is flowing right into the bay. A giant outdoor party area off to the left gave the owners plenty of space for eating out and enjoying the sunsets over Destin.

This Watersound house has a very different look from those above, and yet our crew still found ways to incorporate a pretty neat outdoor area. On this house, the pool took on more of a lap pool type layout to reflect the horizontal nature of the house. The pool runs the entire length of one side of the pool, while a covered gazebo with an outdoor fireplace borders it on the other side. In the pictures below, you can see how these two elements provide privacy for the pool area and backyard. This house still has a way to go before the owners are ready to move in – but you can already tell that it’s going to be the happening place this summer.
