Modifying House Plans

Although our firm offers a series of Ready-to-go home plans, very rarely do we find a customer that wants the plan just as it is. Every lot, every neighborhood, and every family has different needs and requirements. Over the years, this has led to some great variations on our original plans. Recently, the Archiscapes team issued a set of plans for a new home in Watersound that is based on the original Sea Nest plan. You can check out the Sea Nest on our website at: http://www.archiscapes.com/architects/specs/seanest.html

In this version, we not only added nearly 1,000 sq.ft. to the original plans, but also a side garage. You’ll note the obvious: a new tower was added to this plan. When you see the photos from the top, you can see why. While this new home bears a great deal of resemblance to the original (i.e. the front entrance, double stacked rear porches, and a floor plan that directs most of the views towards the rear of the house), adding more square footage maximized the buildable space of the lot and the tower took advantage of the location’s amazing views. The end result is a house that gives the owners the space they want, the layout they need, the views for which they bought the lot, and meets the neighborhood’s design guidelines. It’s a home we are especially proud of as well.

Enjoy the photos!

Evidently, I’m not the only one who loves the view.
