Lambda Chi Fraternity
House, Auburn, Alabama
The front exterior of this 1960s-era building was ripped off along with portions of the inside foyer and hallway to re-create this medieval-inspired fraternity house. Old brick was ordered to give the new addition the appearance of having been there for decades. At the same time, new features such as the wrap-around brick wall off the front entranceway offers residents privacy from the street as well as an ideal place to sit and watch an afternoon Frisbee game on the front lawn. Hidden details, such as the fraternity’s Greek letters in the cupola and trusses, also were thrown into the mix, helping make the new addition a home fit for the kings of Auburn’s fraternity row.
